OUR FIRM
A practice built around careful listening
Sathaphon Legal was founded on the belief that legal work concerning inheritance and family arrangements should be done slowly, clearly, and with complete attention to each client's particular situation.
← Back to homeHow Sathaphon Legal came to be
The firm began with a straightforward observation: families in Bangkok who needed help preparing wills, documenting gifts, or thinking through estate matters often found the legal process more hurried and more opaque than they would have liked. The language of standard documents was not always easy for a family to read calmly at a later time. The pace of meetings sometimes did not leave enough room for the kind of reflection that decisions about family assets and personal care actually deserve.
Sathaphon Legal was established to offer a different kind of service — one that treats each client's situation as entirely its own, that sets no expectation about how quickly any step should be completed, and that produces documents written in language that a thoughtful person can understand without a legal training.
The practice is focused on three services: the preparation of living wills and personal care directives, the documentation of lifetime gifts, and a long-term estate planning arrangement with annual reviews. These three services are deliberately limited — not because there is nothing else worth doing, but because doing fewer things carefully is more useful to our clients than offering a broad menu of services in which the quality of attention is spread thin.
Our office is on Rama IV Road in Khlong Toei, close to the centre of Bangkok and accessible from most parts of the city. Clients are welcome to come to the office, and initial conversations can often be arranged by telephone for those who prefer to speak from home before deciding whether to make an appointment.

How we work
Thai Bar compliance
All work is carried out in compliance with the standards of the Lawyers Council of Thailand. Engagements are confirmed in writing before any work begins.
Plain-language drafting
Every document is reviewed for clarity before it is presented to the client. We aim for language that a family member can understand without professional guidance.
Confidential handling
Client information is held entirely within the firm. No details of any engagement are discussed with third parties without the client's direct instruction.
Formal witnessing
Documents that require formal witnessing under Thai law are witnessed appropriately and the process is explained to the client before it takes place.
Written engagement terms
The scope, fee, and timeline for each matter are confirmed in a short written note before work begins. There are no hidden charges or scope expansions without discussion.
Client-led pace
We work at the pace the client requires. Nothing is progressed until the client has had adequate time to consider the relevant step and is satisfied to proceed.
Inheritance law in Thailand — a careful practice
Inheritance and estate matters in Thailand are governed by the Civil and Commercial Code, and involve considerations that vary considerably depending on a person's family structure, the nature of their assets, and their own wishes for the future. The preparation of a living will, for example, requires clarity about what the client actually wants — clarity that can only come from a conversation in which the client feels unhurried and genuinely heard.
Sathaphon Legal works exclusively in this area. We do not also handle commercial disputes, property transactions, or immigration matters. The advantage of this focus is that the people you speak with at the firm have spent their working lives thinking about exactly the kind of question you are likely to bring to us.
Clients come to us from across Bangkok — from Silom and Sathorn, from Sukhumvit and Ratchada, and from quieter residential areas further out. Some have been referred by family members who have used the firm before. Others have found us through a search and called to ask what we do. We are glad to answer that question without any expectation that the call will lead immediately to an engagement.
Our values are simple: listen carefully, write clearly, proceed at the client's pace, and keep everything confidential. These are not exceptional standards for legal work — they are simply what the work requires when it concerns the things that matter most to a family.
We are glad to hear from you
