"My wife and I came to Sathaphon Legal to have living wills prepared. We were not sure how long it would take or what the process would involve. As it turned out, we had two meetings of about an hour each, and the documents were ready to sign a fortnight later. The drafter was very clear about what each section meant."

"I was referred here by my sister, who had used the firm the year before. The estate plan with annual review has been exactly what I needed — someone to sit with me once a year and make sure the arrangements still reflect my situation. The written summary at the end of each meeting is very useful."

"I came to arrange a gift of a property to my daughter. The firm explained the options clearly and prepared the paperwork without any fuss. The only slight delay was in coordinating with the Land Department, but that was nothing to do with Sathaphon Legal — and they managed it on my behalf. I appreciated not having to deal with that myself."

"I found the whole experience much less daunting than I had expected. I had put off preparing a living will for years because I did not know how to approach the subject, but the initial telephone call put my mind at ease. By the time we sat down to discuss the actual content, it felt quite straightforward."

"The fee was clear from the start and there was nothing added. I have worked with other legal firms where the final invoice was a surprise. Here it was exactly what was agreed. The document itself was well-written — I could read it without a dictionary, which is not something I usually say about legal paperwork."

"I am now in my third year of the annual review arrangement. It suits me well to have a fixed time each year when I go over the estate plan with someone who knows it well. The conversations are calm and productive. I would not want to be without it."

How the work came together
CASE NOTE — LIVING WILL
The situation
A retired couple in their mid-sixties, both in good health, had been meaning to prepare personal care directives for several years. They were not sure what the process involved or whether their wishes were specific enough to put into writing.
What we did
We met with each of them separately and together over three sessions across four weeks. Each session produced a clearer picture of their wishes. The directives were drafted, reviewed in full by each client, and formally witnessed. The process took about six weeks in total.
The outcome
Both clients left with complete, plain-language directives and a short guidance note for their children. They described the experience as "much lighter than we expected." They have since referred two family friends to the firm.
"We kept saying we would do it next year. Coming here made it something we actually finished."
CASE NOTE — LIFETIME GIFT
The situation
A client in his seventies wished to transfer ownership of a residential property to his daughter during his lifetime. He wanted the gift properly documented so that there was no ambiguity in the family record later.
What we did
We prepared a written record of the client's intentions, drafted the gift instrument, and coordinated with the daughter's representative. We also prepared a note for the family explaining the practical effect of the arrangement and what the daughter should retain for her own records.
The outcome
The documentation was completed within two months. The client was pleased that the arrangement had been handled clearly and that his daughter had a complete set of documents with an explanation she could read on her own.
"I wanted to do this properly, in a way my daughter could understand without having to ask anyone to explain it."
CASE NOTE — ANNUAL REVIEW ARRANGEMENT
The situation
A client in her late fifties had an estate plan from a previous firm that she felt no longer reflected her situation accurately. Her family circumstances had changed, and she wanted a firm that would keep the plan current over time without her having to initiate a new engagement each year.
What we did
We prepared a new estate plan during the first year, then conducted annual review meetings in years two and three. In year two, the client made two changes; in year three, the plan was reviewed and confirmed unchanged. Each year, she received a written summary of where the plan stood.
The outcome
After three years, the client has a current, accurate estate plan with a clear record of how it has evolved. She has described the annual meeting as "something I actually look forward to rather than put off."
"It suits me very well to know that someone is keeping an eye on this with me each year."
